.swf file - can i use with FREEWAY?

HELLO THERE. Could do with knowing if I can attach a .swf file into freeway. I did a slideshow using a website called webpasties and for reasons that no one can work out it won’t work on IE 6 (OK on safari, firefox and IE7 wth vista). I am not web genius hence why I use things like this for my site. My pal had a look at it for me (he is pretty tecchy with stuff like this but uses dreamweaver etc) Anyway he emailed me back the images fading into each other on a .swf flash file which I can open on text wrangler but I have not got the first clue how I can intergrate it into my site (he has never used freeway so niether has he)

Could anyone help me please thank Joni

[/quote:044987656f] That may be because of the way things have changed with IE for Windows and plugin content, but I couldn’t say for sure without knowing more. Freeway does automatically generate the necessary code tricks to make these things work more smoothly, so that should help.

Anyway, the important thing is, to use a Flash movie - the item with the filename that ends with .swf - you just drop it into your Freeway page. Or draw out a box and choose File > Import. Either is good.

Try that, see how you get on, and shout out when you have questions!

[/quote:e48744b41f] I believe it doesn’t matter for plugin content; Freeway converts the box to the required kind when you import a Flash file. Or a QuickTime movie for that matter. Although the kind you end up with will in fact be HTML.

thanks - I have done it and checked it to be working on ie6 perfectly. I can’t believe it was so easy - usually when I want to do stuff it s really complicated!!

The pictures my pal has used to make the file for me are a bit low res but now i know what to do I am going to learn how to make the .swf files myself!

thanks loads Joni

And it is funny how often that using Freeway turns out to be one of those good ways… :-)

Hi Nicola,

There is an option in the Inspector palette to force the Flash to play when the page loads. Select the Flash item, look in the Inspector and check the Play option.

Regards,

Joe

i have done this a lot of times, like this one (so you can see it working…) http://www.aronb.com/welcome.html its a plain little movie and i added the flash extra action to it, so i could easily change the size of the html container its in. ( this action allows you also to change the background, so when the size is not so great, you can let it disapear in the background..)
