missing page

I wondered if anyone could possibly check this link in both a Mac AND PC….. http://www.sts-manufacturing.co.uk/cottonfibre.html

This file is on the server and I can call it from my Mac (even after emptying caches etc)…..but can’t see it from my PC - nor from a friend’s PC.

Weird!!…but need urgent confirmation that something IS wrong and I’m not imagining it!

Anyone with PC-ability, be great to hear a qucik yes or no.

Many thanks, Hugh

Here’s your problem - taken from the page head, it seems this includes some shayte from Word:

 <meta name="GENERATOR" content="Freeway Pro 3.5.15">
 <meta name="Title" content="Title">
 <meta name="Keywords" content="Keywords">
 <meta name="ProgId" content="Word.Document">
 <meta name="Originator" content="Microsoft Word 10">

There’s a load of other stuff in there as well, but I suspect the problem is down to pasting in content directly from Word. That includes Microsoft-made code junk that, ironically, prevents the page from working properly in Microsoft’s own browser. You may well have to rebuild the page to get rid of the problem, I’m afraid.

Wasn’t Freeway fixed so it spotted and stripped out this sort of Microsoft foot-shooting stupidity? Does it need to be updated so that it spots crap from newer versions of Word?

Actually Hugh, HERE’s your problem:

Newer versions of Freeway strip out the rubbish that Word packs along with text on the clipboard. But Freeway 3.x doesn’t have this ability, so you’ll need to either clean the text first (pasting and copying through a plain-text TextEdit document, for example) or get a newer version of Freeway.

k (who can’t take credit for spotting this. Doh!)

Keith,

That’s brilliant. Take all the credit you want (and deserve!)

Many thanks,
