New video pop-up on website

Does anyone know how the video on this site was done?

http://www.motionfx.com/store.html

I like how the video pops up as you mouse over and also allow for text below it.

Are you sure of this URL? This comes up as a link farm here.

Shoot, I was afraid of messing that up. Here’s the correct link:

Wow. That’s some amazing JavaScript. You could build something like this using the Prototype/Scriptaculous stack, but it would be a master’s thesis-level project!

You could approximate parts of this with Freeway and the Scriptaculous Actions. Other parts would need to be hand-coded, for that I recommend my Protaculous Action[1], which allows you to add more JS code to the page and create observers for various actions your visitors take.

But really, you will need a Fat Book™[2] to guide you through the rocky slopes of modern DHTML if you want to pull this off.

Thanks Walt.

Sounds like quite the daunting task. I still haven’t figured out how to get a simple lightbox style video pop-up to work (doesn’t seem like anyone else on these forums have either).

Take a look at this web site: http://www.ajaxrain.com/tagcloud.php?tag=lightbox

There are quite a few variations of the Lightbox theme. Somewhat code heavy, but possible to integrate with Freeway.

Thanks Chuck,

I’ve seen quite a few of these. My problem is integrating these into FW. I followed a tutorial for lightbox and got it work as well as used Weaver’s MooTools action. Neither of these allow media files.

I am really hoping I don’t have to re-invent the wheel (which is going to be hard since I am not a web coder) and can find something that I can adapt. I don’t really care which ‘box’ version it is.
