webyep video upload

does webyep allow upload of videos (swf, mov) and playback (maybe with multibox insead of lightbox which plays images only?) ???

The only way that I have managed to do it is using the rich-text, Then you need to adjust the Tiny MCE editor within the webyep system, so you can see more buttons including quicktime / then you have to buy a plug-in from Tiny MCE to allow you to upload files which costs around 50 pounds. After that you need to go back to the script within the webyep system and add specific code to allow for the new plug-in to work within the webyep environment. and finally add the plugin itself inside the plugin folder within the tinyMCE folder which is in the OPT folder. The net result of all this is you willl now have a new button that allows you to place video etc within a webyep richtext block.

It’s not easy and unless you have a specific reason to do this right away you may want wait until OBD bring out there own simple action.

You could always drop them an email to see how they are getting on with this future feature

Hi Jacob, As I said I haven’t figured out how to get the “fckEmbedMovies” plugin to work yet. Flash movie upload however is already implemented in FCKEditor so you don’t have to do anything other than install the editor. To install FCKEditor do the following: 1. Go to the ‘webyep-system” folder that you have installed on your server 2. Then go to the “program” folder 3. Inside the “program” folder go into the “opt” folder 4. Inside the the “opt” folder you should see your current editor folder e.g. “tinymce” or “rte”. either delete or rename the folder. WebYep can only use one editor at a time. 5. Download FCKEditor from www.fckeditor.net unzip the file and copy the entire folder into the “opt” folder. 6. The next time you access a WebYep richtext element on your webpage it should automatically open FCKEditor. 7. You should see the import Flash movie icon on the toolbar menu.

Hi Jacob, I’m using the standard FCKeditor 2.5 which works fine. Though there is a newer version now 2.6.3 which is probably the better choice due to bug fixes etc.

Thought I better have a look at FCKeditor seeing as its supported.

Well apart from the look/colour of the standard skin (gives the impression that its on 40 fags a day)…I am really impressed. On first impressions it’s faster than TinyMCE to load it does support flash and image uploads without the need to buy an extra plugin and activating that part was easy peasey lemon squeezey compared to TinyMCE.

I haven’t look at adding the movie plug-in but if I get a chance I shall look today. The only downside so far is it’s not recognising the extra style sheet. So I will see why that is too

That’s the only downside to using FCKeditor.

I too haven’t been able to get it to recognise extra style sheets either, so I would be very interested to see how you get on.

1. I haven’t been successful in getting any extra plugins to work….so thats a shame
2. I haven’t been successful in getting the style sheet to work either… not good

If people want to take this on then be my guessed…. the main area’s files you have to change are

fckconfig.js

fckstyles.xml

and

fck_editorarea.css

I have managed to get rid of the standard styles like big text, but as far as linking my own style sheet then I have given up.

So for the moment until some one can figure FCKedit out then my advice is.. if you want your own styles then use TinyMCE and if you want Flash and image simple upload management for free use FCKeditor.

now I am off to do some proper work.. :o)

Hi Richard yes I did have look at the xml and I did start to change them and then thought it was to much effort. most people wont want to get that involved in writing style sheets by hand so I gave up too

anyway it’s nice to know some one has been successful to some sort of degree
