A suggestion for the future a crop tool would be very handy to have.

You can achieve a crop effect by using group masks. I think there’s a description of this in the forum archives or you can look at the “catch a wave” sample drawing. This is easier in version 3.0 because you can edit the items in the group without ungrouping and wiping out the mask property. That allows you to fine tune the crop after the fact.

Its a nice idea, and now that Canvas is the only pro general vector
package alternative to Illustrator (the only reason why Adobe won’t
cancel Freehand, I suspect, is because they have pledged to cancel
copy protection on any product that they withdraw), Canvas would be
a seriously useful piece of code for any graphics company to be in
possession of. Looking at the financial returns of ACD systems,
this company won’t be troubling us for much longer, so anything
  could happen.

But some Intaglio uses hate Canvas, so these products are not
natural bedfellows, and do Purgatory design have the desire and
resources to gobble up this enormous piece of code, fix the
outstanding bugs, and then future proof it?

I found Canvas infuriating because, like me, it was a Jack of all
trade, whetted your appetite and didn’t do anything quite right. So,
since I seem to be into giving advice today, I would say that
Intaglio should not try to be Illustrator + Photoshop + Whatever your
favorite CAD.

I have the feeling that the structure of Intaglo is such that it can
support incremental additions and so it should evolve.

My main complain with Intaglio is that the documentation is somewhat
sparse (But then v3.0 has a new one?) and that a few commands are
counterintuitive, at least to me, so that I can never remember them.
But then I am not a heavy user.

Regards

Hi;

A suggestion for the future a crop tool would be very handy to have. I am a
Canvas X user and one of my hobbies is making Photo Montages including text. I
was able to assemble a file but had to use much guess work in Photoshop
Elements trying to crop photos to fit my page. The images vary from a few images to
as may as 24 per page. In Canvas X; I can crop the images on the Canvas page
and resize them and render them to consistent resolution. When I save an image
as a JPEG image in Intaglio I cannot reopen the image in Intaglio it seems
that if one can save an image in an application I should be able to reopen within
the same application.
ACD does not plan to upgrade Canvas X for the Mac. This maybe an opportunity
for Intaglio to License Canvas X for the Mac and share the revenue with ACD.
ACD is basically an application for image editing and organization. I find it
lacking as an imaging tool. My own personal opinion is that the don’t have the
developing expertise to make the transition to Intel Macs. The windows version
was in place when they purchased Canvas X from Deneba.
There are many Mac Canvas users that would pre-purchase a prerelease version
of Canvas X for Intel Macs just so they can continue to use it as their
business tool. This link will connect you to The Canvas forums where members have
posted this suggestion.
      http://www.deneba.com/support/default.html

If this suggestion seems a reasonable solution I would post on the Canvas X
for Mac forum; your reply.

Sincerely,
Richard Deaton
I purchased Intaglio.app version 2.9.8 recently
